As you can see they had to wrap me up with cling film so that the plaster doesn't go on to my clothes and stick to it.
They started off with my arms since I had to make them the strongest because they were going to have to hold up the iPad 2 in the final outcome
We had just finished doing both of the arms. As it started to get hard it was time to start on the legs because then we could connect them so that the legs were holding up the arms.
As you can see they started at the bottom of my legs from my shoes to my shins, this would balance the sculpture to lean forward as I would in real life
Once they caught up to my thighs they made sure that the point where my elbows and knees touched, they made sure that it was the strongest part because it would have to hold up the arms and the iPad 2
They have just caught up to my chest, forearms and hands, at this part my fingers started to go numb because of the blood circulation so they had to tilt me back, which gave them an easier chance to put the plaster on my chestFrom this photo and the photo below you can see that I am tilted and also that I've put the iPad 2 on my face because then I could get the feeling on to how to hold it in that situation, also this gave them a good chance on plastering my hands to that shape.
When taking it off, it didn't have support to hold it up. So I carefully place it on to the table and put on more plaster on the inside to make it stronger than it already was.
Sadly enough when taking the first plaster off the chest had no support and needed more plaster to keep it strong, so I plaster myself again but only my shoulders and chest.
This was the armature that I built with screws, chicken wire, wood and brackets, this way it would hold up the sculpture as I develop it more into the seat
As you can see the Chicken wire is holding the armature up into the right position. without that chicken wire it would of have been hard to pull it off
As you can see the armature is in place with the brackets ready to hold the legs into place and also the two main wood planks ready to hold up the chest area
I carefully wrapped the chicken wire around the chair so that it wasn't loose, meaning something could have gone wrong, but since i was tight everything stayed in its position
After I finished making that armature I placed on the sculpture onto it and stapled some parts onto the wood so that I could carry on without worrying that it might fall and break
In this photo you can see that I needed to make the upper chest part and also the neck so that it can hold the iPad 2 at the back and the hands at the bottom
I painted this with a special ink for silk printing. This is from out of our window in the hostel, the building is called Agbar tower, which reminded me of the gherkin in london
This is the print that turned out from the three photos above, it didn't come out clear because it wasn't heated well, but if it was then it could of have been brighter and clearer
This is the outcome of the silk print of the three photos above, it turned out well enough because its bright and clear.
This was my first try at it, I must say it came out well but not in proportion, so I had a try on doing it in the style of Dryden Goodwin and the results were successful
As you can see this turned out good because it's in the style of Dryden Goodwin and it looks like me. so by continuing making another 128 more I made an IStopMotion video that Tom Phillips did for his art piece of Susan Adele Greenfield
The photo above is what my final outcome looks like. I'm proud of what I made, it's something special to me
