Final Evaluation

Assessment Objective
What to look for
Evidence – Explanation & Evaluation
Explain how you brainstormed the theme? What ideas did you come up with? What and where did you research come from?
Written notes and ideas.
Observational Drawings showing shading. Research using books, internet, galleries etc.
My research came from Barcelona because of my trip, The ideas \I came up with was to make a big work piece with mixed media equipment such as Biro Pens, Pencils and paint, but I changed the idea to a sculpture
Who was your client and what was the purposed of your piece of work and what form did it take? Explain how your ideas fitted in with the theme, explain how you have taken the needs of the client into account and have you worked to the deadline, have you planned and used your time well
Information from the brief. Your own ideas and research. Time keeping
My client  was the people in Barcelona the purpose of my piece of work was that it shows the Physical and emotional expressions that people have on transport
What artists did you research how did they fit in with the theme
Written notes of artists’ work and other objects of interest
The artists that I researched were Tom Phillips, Dryden Goodwin and George Segal. Tom Phillips fitted into my theme by showing the public an animation of how I feel through the drawings into a video by IStopMotion; instead of using a Mac I used the iPad2 as a screen/head. Dryden Goodwin fitted into my theme by using his style of drawing portraits, which was all scruffy but it still showed the person and so by doing so I captured milliseconds of my emotions that gradually change. George Segal fitted into my theme by using his style of plaster bandage sculptures; I used his style because it was a sculpture of a person which created many thoughts behind it, such as how did that person felt etc so as you can see the sculpture shows how I feel.
How did you mix your ideas with artists’ ideas to come up with a rand of alternative designs/plans in response to the theme? At least 4 ideas should be presented
Drawings & written work that explains how you have been influenced by the work of artists/ designers/ photographers
I mixed the ideas with the artists on how they inspired me, which was their type of art and so by learning their styles I created drawings of what I wanted it to be and it turned out to what I wanted it to be.
What material did you experiment with to show your ideas? E.g. 2-d materials and 3-d materials.
Drawings, paintings, prints, sculptures and other pieces that show experimentation with material & techniques ( pencil, paint, ink, pastels, oil pastels, charcoal, collage) (paper, wire, card, PVA, lino, ICT, darkroom, embroidery)etc
I experimented with plaster, I used my left hand as an experiment, which I did three experiments, to test how it works and to basically to get used to it. I did experiments on drawing my face, so that I could get used to it in pencil.
Which ideas led to your final piece? Explain your ideas; linking them to any artists you looked at? What materials, techniques and processes did you use for your final piece?
You tell us
The ideas that led to my final piece was that all of the artist linked into my theme and the way that I designed the final outcome to show that I’ve literally used the different types of art into my piece. The final piece linked to the artist that I researched which was George Segal, Dryden Goodwin and Tom Phillips. The outcome linked to the artists by making a sculpture out of plaster bandage over clothes, which linked to George Segal. The style of drawings related to Dryden Goodwin because it was scruffy and in pencil. The IStopMotion related to the artist called Tom Phillips in which he did 169 portrait drawings of a lady and made it into a video from the Mac.
How successfully did you fulfil the brief? What could you have done better
You should know
I successfully fulfilled my brief by showing the public my outcome which showed them how transport and people related in physical and emotional way, by using the artists I used their styles of art to create mine in which they all link and work well with each other, as you can see from the outcome that I produced it shows physical and emotional sides to it and they are; the body sculpture, made out of plaster shows the body language, the scruffy drawings are to do with emotional as well as the IStopMotion Animation. The silk prints are relating to the theme of transport by the questions we ask everyday in our lives, which are why are we going to the places? I just went to this and so on. The prints show where I have been in Barcelona and obviously by getting there I used the transport that they have.

Experimentation clay

This was my experiment on sculpturing with clay. It's not my strength to use clay, so it was a challenge to make sculptures. By using the drawings and the notes of my ideas, I decided to make sculptures of the final outcome and to see how it would work, I have to say that this has helped me because of the structure of how the body works and how the weight will stand.

This was my first sculpture and I have to say it was hard to make because some parts just wouldn't hold up, which worried me because at this point I wasn't sure what to use to make the final outcome from.
This is the same sculpture from the top photo, as you can see the legs started to drifted to the side because of the pressure of the arms and the head
This was an ideal version of what I wanted to do to display the iPad 2 as it shows the IStopMotion pictures of the faces, this was a success because it was strong and well supported to hold the iPad 2, but in the end I decided to change it because it didn't fit the outcome design
This is a front view of the iPad 2 holder, I love the detailed hands in this because in real life you can easily hold the iPad 2 like that, which suggest it's inspired by real life ergonomics
This was my third sculpture and as you can see this wasn't well planned because the head kept on falling off and so did the hands and the left leg. Since I'm not used to this type of art, it was a bit of a challenge for me.
This was the last sculpture that I did because I started to understand what was going wrong and what went right with the sculptures and how it could of helped me during the making of the final outcome.

Experimentation charcoal

These are my charcoal drawings from my primary sources that I took in Barcelona. The progress I got from  this is that I did find it hard to work with because it's a much thicker size to a normal pencil and although it was hard drawing, it still gave me the opportunity to give so tone or to either make something look like it's going fast by smudging it.

This drawing was from the MBCAM museum in Barcelona because of the ships and boats in the sea were in a photo. I found it easy to draw it because most of the objects were black such as the boat on the right, rocks, sand and some parts of the water.
The drawn image at the bottom, was taken from a photo that I took from Barcelona that linked into my theme because it had people walking up and down this road and it had people riding bicycles further away, that were coming down my path.
This related to my theme because it shows that a person has gone the travel to mark their spot and to be honest it might be a famous graffiti because its close to the cathedral and its eye catching to most teenagers.
The original image had a black and yellow taxi car going very fast because the green light was still on. I specifically left this photo for the charcoal because I knew I would have fun on drawing it because it allowed me to smudge the back and the front of the car.
This was in the MACBA museum, what interested me the most was that it was photo of a big truck and it had Transnatur which is a delivery service from trucks to fairy. I've seen this company before a long time ago, so it triggered a memory
this was also in the MACBA museum which caught my eye because the black blobs are chairs and in front of them is a long fence and theres an aeroplane landing over them
This is my friend Aaron who was sleeping because we had a long day which didn't end and because of the weather we decided to go home and relax our legs and have a little rest and also do work. this is an example of an expressions
This is a drawing of a person who was walking past a photo was I was going to take of the running traffic that was going on in the background, but it's still a good thing  because after this photo he went into the tube to go somewhere, which relates to my theme because transport is something that we all need.

Experimentation mixed media (masking tape & charcoal)

I did these experiments before and so I liked the idea of making them and mixing them and using them into my primary sources because it's something different to what I already do because its not really drawing the image because of the masking tape. I found it weird at first because I haven't done it in a while, but I got the hang of it by the first piece. It mixes well for me because its like a puzzle, once you've placed down the masking tape, it like you have to fill in the other details.

This was taken on the first day in Barcelona and drew it with this mixed media because I thought it suited well because  on the road it had some bright concrete and some dark, so by using the masking tape as the brighter areas left me to use the charcoal as the darker areas
This photo was taken on the last day of the trip in the airport. I used the masking tape as the people and some of the lights because the people were in a line and the lights were in a line and so by getting the idea of using that I'd make them the same material and the rest as the charcoal, it's simplified down because I made the people in the line all connected to each other because they were that close and the lights had an outer glow to them so I made them a bit bigger.
I drew this because I used the masking tape to make the body structure and in the background there were buildings and trees that were black because the sun was setting
I used this photo as one of the mixed media experiments because there was these garages with graffiti on it, one of them had a 'C S' and I couldn't really figure out the other graffiti because it was too detailed and it was too far.

Experimentation pencil

These are my experiments for pencil. I drew from my primary sources that I took in Barcelona. I've always found interesting to use pencil to draw any type of art. I would use firstly use pencil when I'm drawing, I guess it's the texture from when it touches the paper, that I found interesting.

This was from the Miro Museum, which was standing outside the building. I thought it was amusing to look at because it had the human body shape but every limb was either small and thin, bulky or average.
This is a drawing of my friend Tyler. As I began to draw this I took all of the dark and the light areas and outlined them so that I knew where I was going because in the photo he's in a dark place where it has these rooms with different colours and he's in front of the room. The place was at the MCABM
This photo was taken on the high road in Barcelona. I took drew this because it related to my theme and so by looking at it, it has cars and buildings and to relate that back to my theme, it shows that why do we use an easier transport, where do we go and what makes us travel. The traffic lights suggests to me that there are too many desired destinations
This is a drawing of my friend Aaron, we were in the coach because we just arrived in Barcelona and so we were taking photos whilst going to the hostel. It was hard for me to draw him because the light was shining from the back of his head, that's why there's so much shading on our left.
I drew this building because it stood out from the other buildings near by, I think it was because the little bit at the top because it was nice and eye catching. I wanted to go up there and take photos because it looked like it would have a good view from the other buildings, cars, bikes and people.
This was my first glimpse of the cathedral, it was amazing moment because it was so big which stood out from all of the buildings. My desire to go there became true because not only did I go there, I also went inside and took a tour around.
when we had our lunch break from the cathedral we went from the other side and so I took this photo of these sculptures and fell in love with this, because it looked so interesting and mysterious

Experimentation fine liner

These are drawings from my primary sources that I took in Barcelona. I found it easier to work with a fine liner because everything comes out so sharp its hard not to make it detailed, I tried the best I could to make it detailed without messing up because that's the challenge of it, when drawing in finer liner. I think my overall progress was successful because

This is a fine liner drawing of cars and two bicycles. this relates to my theme because it simply has transport vehicles which shows that everyone uses the common cars to either get to work in their van etc.
The van that went by and took up some space was a blur because it was going a bit fast and so by drawing it I couldn't get it on focus. however the building in front took my eyes by surprise because it was such as old building, it made it stood out a bit more because it was dirty and sort of blended in with the other buildings next to it
This was a building that I wanted to go to because it was so high up and even from the outside it looked wonderful. I wanted to go inside because I thought if it was so nice and classy on the outside, I wonder how modern it is inside. I took this when I was on the coach going to the hostel.
This is the only type of bike I saw on the trip because the others where either Mopeds or something else. I loved how the sun made this bike to have so much tone because it just made it look all shiny and fresh
This is Tyler eating a burger from a shop near by the hostel, he said he enjoyed it and that the place was very nice and helpful because we didn't speak that much spanish. As again transport can make you hungry because we had just got off of the coach and had a little meeting to say that it was lunch.
This is from the photo of the fourth day when we were at the airport. I drew this because in the photo I wanted to draw the people because they were one shape and very dark
This was from the MACBA museum and In this photo you can see two people, who are Tyler and Aaron, they were just about leaving the room because we had to go.
this was a statue was built very high and big, I wanted to draw it as soon as I saw it, but we was on the move. I think it was a successful drawing

experimentation Plaster bandage

This was my first plaster experiment. I wasn't sure how it worked but understood as it dried after a few minutes later. I didn't do much because I was afraid that it was going to be hard to get out of.
The fingers were a tricky part because actually layering the plaster on to it with the other hand was hard and so I only did a certain amount of the fingers as you can see from the two photos
this is my second experiment were I did a casting of my fist from the top half.I started to enjoy this material and to what it does, as you can see I've played around with it and had a little fun with it.

This photo brings out the work that I put in, as you can see my fingers has left an in print which is what I mostly like about it
As you can see this is the top half of the plaster bandage, what I like about this is that it shows the fingers building into the fist
This is my third experiment were as you can see I did a peace sign but I only did the back of it because I like to make the people think what it is.
This is the second photo I took of the peace sign, it was still wet at the time and I liked how it started to settle
This is the third photo I took of the casting. it was dry and ready to go, I love the detail on the top layer because it really shows the knuckles and the veins
